Sea Sunday in Hartlepool
Quiet reflection in a busy weekend for AOS staff and volunteers in north east England as they celebrate Sea Sunday 2008
AOS GB held the now traditional Sea Sunday afternoon service at the Coastwatch Station in the port of Hartlepool. Some 50 people from surrounding parishes came together for prayer, music, readings, benediction, and the blessing of the port. The service was led by Fr John Butters.
The weekend of Sea Sunday is one of intense activity for AOS workers with many speaking in parishes and promoting the work of AOS at as many venues as possible. For those in the north east of England, the Hartlepool service offers a period of calm reflection.
Prayers were offered for seafarers and their families and for AOS and other organisations which work for the welfare of seafarers.
