Volunteer for Us


 

Our volunteers come from all walks of life and volunteer for Apostleship of the Sea for a number of different reasons for example:

  • To meet new people

  • Develop Skills and improve CV’s

  • To have fun

  • A belief in the work of Apostleship of the Sea and a wish to participate

 

There are a number of different volunteering roles within Apostleship of the Sea, can you see one which would suit you?

  • Fundraising

  • Ship visiting- Meeting seafarers in their own environment

  • Driving- Transporting seafarers between ships

  • Seafarers Centre- being a friendly face, chatting to seafarers

  • Parish contact – Passing on our message in your parish

  • AoS National Office- helping with office admin, research and marketing

Here is one example of a volunteer’s experience:

Anne-Laure is a volunteer ship visitor in Immingham, she describes her volunteering work with seafarers as "very simple. I thought I was going to do some good but I have learned far more from seafarers. When I go onboard ship I find seafarers uncomplicated. In my experience, they usually smile and welcome ship visitors warmly."
