Walking on Water
AoS in Jersey have once again performed a miracle...they 'walked on water' to raise funds for AoS. Organised by Terry Brown a volunteer ship visitor in Jersey, the event saw walkers from all over including the head of the Catholic Church in Jersey, Monsignor Nicholas France, walking the equivalent distance to France along the St Catherines Breakwater. The walkers raised a massive £3,365.00 for their efforts, shared 80% AoS 20% KSC Council 216 Jersey.
Terry and his team were also joined by chaplain Anne McLaren from the Hull ports to represent the mainland. This event was a great success last year, but even more money was raised this year and more walkers took part. Terry and his team are hoping it will now become a well known annual event in the area. Well done walkers!

Our Marathon Man did it!
Gareth our brave marathon runner ran well in the London Marathon and we can now tell you that he completed the course in 6hours 28 minutes. We are very proud of him for sticking with it and completing the whole run!
Not only did he manage this immense physical task but he also raised a whopping £1625 for Apostleship of the Sea. We would like to thank Gareth for all his hard work and efforts over the last few months.
However he could not have done it without your support. Thank you to those kind supporters who helped Gareth reach and exceed his fundraising target. Well done everyone. |

La Rocque Methodist Guild welcome AoSTerry Brown, AoS Jersey recently had the pleasure of being invited to meet the ladies of La Rocque Methodist Guild and speak about AoS and our work.
The evening started with seafaring hymns, prayers and readings and then Terry gave a talk on the work of The Apostleship of the Sea around Great Britain and the Channel Islands. Terry reports he was made to feel most welcome and would like to thank the ladies of La Rocque for all their interest. At the end of the talk the ladies kindly collected a total of £31.00 to go towards our work with seafarers.
Ambassadors for AoS often meet with community groups to give talks and spread awareness of what we as a charity do. If you would like someone to speak to a local group you know, or if indeed you would like to go out and do a talk then we can organise this for you. Contact Sheila Bailey, Director of Fundraising for more information by calling her at the office on 0207 0128607 or emailing her at sheilabailey@apostleshipofthesea.org.uk
